Setting your business goals for 2023

A day of reflection and goal setting. That's how we look at New Year's Eve. I’m sure you’re winding down ready for Christmas, a time of relaxation and enjoyment with loved ones. But when the festivities are over, what better time to think and reflect about the year that’s gone by in order to set yourself some new goals?

It’s important to acknowledge your achievements, the good, the bad and ugly! We all make mistakes in business but these should be looked at in a positive manner. Turn your mistakes into learnings and this will make your business much more successful. Positivity is key!

Reflecting on 2022 before setting your goals will give you a better understanding of where you want to be this time next year.

If a goal is just in your head and it’s not down on paper then it’s just a dream! So take this into consideration. Either write down your goal or create yourself a vision board of all the things you want to achieve. Displaying your board somewhere which is visible each day will give you the motivation you need to achieve these goals.

We recommend using the SMART method to set your goals for the year.

S
- Specific

M - Measurable

A - Achievable

R - Realistic

T - Time limited

When setting your goals make sure they are
specific, this means the more details the better. Think about what the goal means to you and your business, how you want to get there and how long it will take.

Your goals must be
measurable, this means at any given point in time you can see your progress. This will give you inspiration.

If your goal is not
achievable and realistic you will be disappointed when you don’t achieve it and this will have a knock on effect with your confidence.

Time
is of the essence. You need to give yourself a deadline because if you don’t your goal is just a pipe dream.

If your goals are related to your business finances then we recommend hiring a bookkeeper to hold you accountable and guide you in the right direction.
