Why networking generates more business

You’re proud of the business you have built, right? Well you should be shouting shouting it from the rooftops, telling everyone about it. Yet, we wait until someone asks us what we do before telling them. Networking is a vital part of your business growth in order to generate new leads. It doesn’t matter who you’re talking to, if they don’t need your services, they may know someone who does, so keep that in mind. Anyone can be a potential client without you even realising it.

Take every opportunity you get to talk about your business, whether that be face-to-face networking events, social events, online events or even in the school playground!. As well as generating new leads you may also get some new ideas from speaking to others.

Not got the confidence

If speaking in front of people isn’t your strong point then you need not worry. Start off on social media. You don’t necessarily have to come face-to-face with people in order to talk about your business, you can do it in other ways. Post consistently on your social media and make sure you engage with your audience. Post engaging content which will appeal to your ideal client, give them facts and information, don’t just sell! Your audience must gain something from following your social media, and giving them valuable information builds trust. Join groups on Facebook which are specific to your industry and groups where your ideal client is likely to hang on. Keep active in these groups and make sure you answer questions relevant to your industry, you need to stand out as the expert!

Get out of your comfort zone

Not everyone oozes with confidence and it can take time to build that self-belief. If you’re a bit shy or you worry about speaking face-to-face with people, set yourself a monthly goal to get out of your comfort zone. Start off small, maybe say you will speak to 1 new person a month and build upon it. You will be surprised at what it does for your self-esteem and for your business. I know because I have been there too!

Make new relationships

Networking doesn’t have to be all selling. Networking with your competition or suppliers is a great way to get your business heard of and get yourself some great deals and advice. You will also stay ahead of the latest trends in your industry which is brilliant for your future development.

So, take every opportunity which you’re given to tell people about your business, what you do and how you can help them or someone they know.

We’d love to hear your stories about how networking has helped you and your business, so get talking and we wish your business every success.

Trivial benefits are a UK tax rule that lets directors and employees receive small perks tax-free, as long as you stick to HMRC’s conditions. Done properly, they’re a neat little win: a morale boost for you or your team, without creating extra tax, National Insurance, or admin.

For beauty business owners, managing cash flow can feel like a full-time job in itself. With the constant juggle of appointments, product orders, staff schedules, and client payments, it’s easy for finances to slip down the priority list.
